Alcohol and Drug Tests at the Workplace

During the last few years workplace drug testing (WDT) has been gaining rapidly importance in many countries. Human failure is often the origin of accidents at the workplace rather than technical defects. Consumption of alcohol, drugs and medications play offen a significant role. In many European countries drug testing is mostly not regular random on-site testing of all personnel but more often pre-employment and post-incident testing (with cause testing).

There is a particular duty of care of an employer to guarantee a safe workplace and to check regularly its security. In safety-critical jobs (e.g. pilots, ship personal, lorry, bus and train drivers or operators of heavy machinery such as cranes, staff of chemical and petrochemical industry, staff of nuclear power plants) testing for drugs of abuse or alcohol may be necessary.
The follow up testing of subjects previously addicted to drugs, who are reintegrated in normal working life, is also part of workplace drug testing.
The choice of sample to be tested (e.g. urine, oral fluid, hair) depends on the individual circumstances.

Our forensic accreditation ensures the highest quality of sample collection, analysis and interpretation of results.
Our results are legally defensible as required by international WDT guidelines (See EWDTS, SAMHSA).
